Mills Sign 8
The Melville Millionaires are pleased to announce the signing of 8 players for the 2010 WMBL season.
James Green – The 5-10 180 lbs centrefielder had an excellent summer in 2009 for the Millionaires. The Mils leadoff hitter finished with an outstanding .423 batting average and 23 stolen bases. He was the 2009 WMBL batting champion and first team all-star. James will be looking at continuing his dominance in 2010 and will be counted on for his veteran leadership as one of three returning players.
Paul LaMantia – The 6-0 190 lbs outfielder is from Tecumseh Ontario. He is a senior at Wayne State University. IN 2009 he batted .347 and finished with 24 extra base hits, eighth most in WSU history. This will be Paul’s second year as a Millionaire. Last summer Paul hit .252 with 4 homeruns and 22 RBI’s. Paul will also be counted on for his veteran leadership as one of three returning players.
Sean Gaughan – The 5-10 174 lbs infielder will be returning for his 3rd summer as a Millionaire. In 2008 Sean finished with a .270 average and 11 RBI’s while his versatility allowed him to play numerous positions. In 2009, Sean had an even better season finishing with a .316 average and 16 RBI’s. Sean will also be relied on heavily given his 3 years of experience in the WMBL.
Casey Justice – Casey is a 6-0 215 lb third baseman from Granite Falls, North Carolina. In two years at Blue Ridge Community College Casey hit 19 homeruns. During the last three summers Casey played with the Catawba Valley Stars of the Carolina Virginia Collegiate Baseball League where he has been named MVP twice. The Millionaires will be counting on Casey to continue this impressive hitting in the WMBL in 2010.
Preston Budziszewski – Preston is a 6-4 210 lb freshman pitcher from Moody Texas. He is currently attending Galveston College. So far this year Preston has see action in 9 games. Preston brings his blazing fastball to the Millionaires.
Kane Kimrey – Kane is a 6-5 210 lb pitcher from Rowlett Texas. Kane plays NAIA Division 1 baseball for Northwood University. In 8 games so far this year, Kane is 5 – 2 with 21 strikeouts. In 2009 Kane pitched for Howard College, which finished as National Junior College Champs going 63 –1 and setting a NCAA record with 57 straight wins.
Sean Ayala – Sean is a 5-10 185 lb RHP from Fort Worth Texas. Sean plays NAIA Division 1 baseball for Northwood University. In 9 games so far this season, Sean is 2 – 0 with a 4.11 era and 11 strikeouts. In 2009 Sean Ayala attended North Central Texas College.
Ruston Harris – Ruston is a 5-10 177 lb freshman infielder/outfielder from Grandview Texas. He is currently attending Sam Houston State University. Prior to this year Ruston played fro Grandview High School where he was a two-time All-Stater hitting .589.
The Millionaires are excited to be welcoming these 9 players to the City of Melville and the WMBL. Additional players signings will be announced in the near future.
