Iowa Central earns #3 seed in Iowa Community college athletic conference. The championship takes place May 12-16th and is home to Canadian Allen Rimer.
After a wild and hectic weekend of close baseball games, the seedings have been set for the WVIAC Tournament, which will take place May 12-15. Wheeling Jesuit earns 3rd seed in the North Division. Wheeling Jesuit is home to Canadian Pitcher Brenden Gillies.
Arkansas Tech collects walk-off extra inning win over 16th-ranked North Alabama to remain alive in GSC Tournament, advances to semifinals Monday May 9th for first time since 2001. Previously Arkansas Tech Baseball made sure it continued its 2011 baseball season as the Wonder Boys recorded 15 hits en route to posting a 12-2 mercy rule victory over Valdosta State in an elimination round contest at the Gulf South Conference Tournament. Tech’s win was highlighted by Wonder Boys scoring runs in five of the seven innings that were played and also a five-hit complete game performance on the mound by sophomore Mason Reynolds to post just the ninth 30-win campaign in the program’s history. “What a tremendous performance tonight on the mound by Mason (Reynolds) and what an outstanding job we did at the plate,” said Wonder Boys Head Coach Dave Dawson. CJ Engel also plays for Arkansas Tech.
Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets Baseball season has come to an end, now its time for the post season, conference tourney starts Thursday. Enid will be the #2 seed and is the home of Jacob Inbody, Austin Pfeiffer, Christian Faulkner, and Garrett Kelly. Last summers assistant coach Scotty Mansfield is an assistant coach for Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets.
The Seminole State Baseball Team secured the OCAC title and the number one seed in the Region II Tournament. The Trojans are currently ranked 13th in the NJCAA polls and will play Arkansas Baptist College in the first round of the regional tournament on May 12th in Jenks, OK. Seminole is home to Matthew Helms, John Clark, and Mitchell Osburn.
Thirty-two teams earned an automatic berth to the 45-team National Championship Opening Round by winning their respective conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournament. University of British Columbia was on of those 32 teams. Thirteen additional clubs earned at-large selections including Northwood (Texas) home of Edgar Valle and Brendan Alvey and Will Fontnow.
The second-seeded UBC Thunderbirds claimed the 2011 NAIA West conference title and an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship opening round next week with a 13-8 victory over the College of Idaho Coyotes in a back-and-forth, tournament finale in Atherton, CA. Future Millionaires Nick Senior, Andrew Madsen, Miles Verweel, Ryan Taylor currently play for the UBC thunderbirds. At the dish in the West final it was Madsen leading the way with three RBI on a pair of doubles.
The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team had four players named to the All-Lone Star Conference team. Sophomore utility and future Melville Millionaires Ben Villafuerte earned Second Team honors. Texas A&M earns #6 seed to Lone star conference championships.
Winston-Salem State Rams worked themselves all the way back from a first-round defeat to win the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Baseball Championship, completing a remarkable comeback and improbable season for the first-year program. Future Millionaires John Markley was named the tournament's MVP for his sensational pitching in both of Saturday's contests. He registered the save in the first game by recording the last two outs and then threw seven shutout innings for the game-two victory.
